The spark plug cable is the connecting element between the current supply (cap or ignition coil) and the combustion chamber where it binds the air and fuel mixture for the propulsion of the vehicle.

In this publication we put our attention to the typical cable of German engines that have 0 Ohm in the conductor and the resistance is directly in the cap said suppressor.

The cable used by Brecav Srl is one of the best performing on the market and complies with the requirements of SAE J2031 – ISO 3808 – VDE079 – J557, class E type 1 high voltage ignition cable. The cable is equivalent to the characteristics of the first installation and therefore respects the dictates of Ber.

The conductor is an 18 gauge composed of 19 tinned copper wires, the presence of tin lengthens the life of the conductor protecting it from the continuous passage of current.

The conductor is insulated with a high temperature dielectric.  The insulation is placed concentrically around the conductor.  The diameter of the insulation is determined by the electrical requirements of the above standards.

The insulated conductor will have a cover of glass fiber braid.  The braid reinforces the tensile properties of the polymeric materials used as insulation and covering.

Silicone rubber protective coating shall be applied over the fiberglass braid.  The surface of the cable shall be smooth.  The cable shall be able to be processed on automatic cutting equipment.  The diameter of the finished cable shall be 7 + 0.25MM.  The color of the coating and optional printing will be as specified by the customer.  The purpose of the coating is to provide the cable with thermal resistance and resistance to chemicals commonly found in the engine compartment.

“The choice of cable is very important,” says Paolo Braia, Plant Manager of Brecav Srl, “because the correct insulation of the conductor prevents current loss and unintended discharge dynamics inside the engine compartment. The safety of people and their families is always the focus in our products, the materials used are equivalent to or exceed the quality of the original equipment.”
